Transparency becomes a legal obligation
On 27 December 2016, the Law of 18 December 2016 containing various provisions on health was published in the “Moniteur Belge”. Chapter I of Title 3 of the Act, entitled “Sunshine Act”, establishes the legal basis for the transparency obligation. The platform betransparent.be is a self-regulatory initiative from the healthcare sector. This self-regulation now receives a legal basis. However, before the law can be enforced, several implementing decrees still have to be published. A royal decree will shortly follow which will determine the categories of premiums and benefits to be made public, as well as the date of entry into force of the law. More information will follow as soon as possible.
